Default 2 door towing, advice pls!

Hi all,
I've seen the towing capacity of the 2 door wrangler is 1000kg, has anyone had experience towing over this amount in a 2 door wrangler?
I need to tow a horse cart 3.5m and weighing 1500kg (total) over short distances but on regular basis. Would the 2 door be up to it? yes, i understand the legal ramifications if i were in an accident- I'm asking about experiences from others who have towed over this limit.

The 2 door will have no trouble at all towing that kind of weight.

However, The reason is it limited to 1000kg whereas the 4 door is 2300kg (from memory) is because of it's short wheel base.

If you had to brake in an emergency, you would soon find yourself in all sorts of trouble as it would become unstable with that kind of weight pushing it from behind. There is a very real chance of jack knifing the trailer or worse, rolling.

You insurance company would walk away if you then wanted to make a claim and if you hurt somebody then you are really in it.

Surely decent trailer brakes could safely fix this issue

3 door SWB Pajero can tow 2500kg legally with brakes

So you want to tow more than the legal limit, regularly?

Sounds like a great move to me.

It's a legal requirement for any trailer over 1000kg to have trailer brakes. It still won't stop the trailer from turning over the tow vehicle.

You need to take into account the weight and the wheel base of both vehicles. Just because a 2 door Pajero can do it, it doesn't mean the Wrangler can do the same as well.

A Jimny can tow 1300 legally, so none of the physics are the limits. Unfortunately that is what Jeep rated it at so that's what it is.
