Default Rear shock rattle

Hi, did anyone ever find a solution to this problem in wk2 grands?

My 2011 GC is exhibiting the problem, done heaps of searching, everything seems to have gone quite

On investigation my rear shocks seem to be within 5mm of fully extended while at rest, which can’t be good.

I tempted to buy some new bilsteins , I have already replaced the top mount

So what the deal, any advice??

Thanks

Hi, emac, there was TSB recall for the rear shocks. The issue is with the top mounts, they have to get new brackets.
It has been talked about on here so do a search.
I'll try and find the TSB when I get on my PC later today.

I've already replaced the upper mount, no change.

ive ordered Bilstein shocks and greasable stabiliser bar end links so see how that goes

how's this for nuts, a guy in the US recommended Old Man Emu shocks which are AU made, but they are cheaper to buy in the US than here (taking into account exchange rates)

Bilstein were cheaper again.

anyway hopefully that fixes it

Another thing that can cause a rattle or banging, is the stabiliser centre support bushes, once these wear they cause a hell of a lot of noise.

new KYB upper shock mounts, Bilstein rear shocks 4600,s i think (yellow)

and greeasable stabiliser bar end links has virtually cured this problem

just the slightest rattle/squeek on short sharp bumps.

i can live with that, the Bilsteins are about 25 mm longer that the oem shocks

and i thing that also has a bearing on it.
