Default No more jeep

afternoon all
it is with great sadness that unfortunately I may have written off the jeep.
pulling off from the lights last week and the bloke in front jumped on his brakes and even though I had left a good car and half between us the jeep did not stop in time, even hit the brakes before the proximity alarm went off.
hoping it is not written off but expecting the worst, quite a bit of damage considering a max speed of 30kmh, the hit was enough to move the drivers side wing/fender so that the door catches it.
the waiting is killing me .

looking a little sorry for its self.

Andy mate that if FAR from a right off, the only way it will be a Right off is if the air bags deploy... which they haven't. Looking cosmetically it's superficial. 2 weeks in the shop & you will have it back. DON'T WORRY it's any easy fix!

I do hope you are right, but the lower guard plates are complete toast, radiator had been pushed back, intercooler is toast and the lower crossmember is twisted, quite surprised at the amount of damage actually, the other car did have a towbar as well, which is what did all the damage to the bash plates which transferred this into the lower crossmember.
the worst part is waiting to find out, but as we know insurance companies do not rush.
will keep you all informed of the progress, here's hoping.

How superficial? Should be back on the road soon.

It's important to find a good repairer.

Condolences mate, a sad day indeed.

Unfortunately it doesn't take much damage for an insurer to write off. I used to work in the industry and even seemingly 'superficial' damage often has hidden (read expensive) depths making it uneconomic for repair. I've seen cars (including many imported makes) written off that you'd swear should take only a few bucks to fix. Andy, hopefully it's not going to happen in your case, but you are wise to consider it a possibility. Best of luck with it.

I understand how you feel, I recently hit a roo and damaged the front right corner, still drivable but headlight out of focus and bonnet pushed up, they repaired it but the bill for it was $23,500.

Hopefully it can be repaired & put back on the road. If the insurers say it's too expensive to repair & it's worth this much $$$ as a writeoff compare what they are offering to what is listed here for fixed price GC vehicles:
https://www.pickles.com.au/cars/item...and%20Cherokee.

Cheers
