Default Coolant level sensor fix!

Hi Guys

So the coolant low level light was always on and I thought it was the sensor?
As I’ve just replaced the heads and wanted the coolant system to be clean I took out the coolant tank and flushed it out.

At first there wasn’t much coming out but with a pressure washer and soaking in washing powder in the sink, shaking and blasting over and over! I got so much crap out of the tank that I could actually see through the plastic again and there seems to be a float inside that the level switch must pick up?

After no more crap would come out, refitted and filled system.

The level light goes out now!

Also the sensor sits in a pocket in the side of the tank and not in direct contact with the coolant. I thought I had broken it when the sensor came out, but cleaned it out and siliconed it back in.

So yea, if your coolant low level light doesn’t work, try cleaning out the tank until you can hear the float rattling inside.

Cheers Andrew

Yep, my 95 doesn't have that sensor, but it sounds like a good one to have.
Always a good idea to keep the cooling system and components fresh and clean.
Well done on the win!!

Cheers,
