Default Phone Holder

Been investigating the options for mounting a holder for a phone in a Grand Cherokee.

I have a dislike for anything mounted to the windscreen or the air vents, so was wondering if anyone's found a method of mounting a holder to the dash or centre console, without having to drill holes. If the phone can be placed in the holder with one hand, and is solid, all the better.

Putting the phone in the cup holder is not something I'm keen on.

I'm the same, I see mounting one on the air vent pointless, especially for summer.
I made a compromise for the windscreen and got a very short and compact mount that my phone clamps into in the right hand bottom corner of the windscreen, it's a good spot and out of the way.

I've been looking for ages, haven't found anything suitable. Mine sits in the door pocket. At least Uconnect lets you make and receive calls, so no need to see or handle the phone as long as you've loaded your contacts onto Uconnect.

I also hate things on the screen, but I have the dash cam and eTag mounted high up near the mirror. When needed I also add a monitor for the van camera plus portable sat nav lower down which is enough clutter without the phone. Any good ideas would be welcome though.

I just put mine in the area with the USB charging point, in front of the gear lever. It’s usually charging anyway.

Hi

I have been using a magnetic holder like this.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/193243172874

I was pretty convinced it was going to be rubbish when I brought it but I could not be happier.

The phone does not move (even off road) and can be put on/off with 1 hand.

The only caveat to the above comment is that I needed to replace the double sided tape on the original to some hardcore double sided tape to keep it stuck to the dash.

I have it mounted on the right hand side of the steering wheel.

I've seen those magnetic type mounts but was always sceptical about the magnets effect on the phone and the ability of the unit to successfully hold the phone.

For $5 its probably worth a try. At least no holes have to be drilled or trim dismantled.

I've always wondered about the magnetic ones too.
Does it work if your phone's in any sort of case? Does it wobble at all being stuck to the dash?
