Default Turbo Removal

Hi guys, UK WG owner here, 02, 2.7 CRD Limited.

Ive got a leak behind my turbo so Ive been trying to get the turbo off. There doesnt seem to be much info / pics / any videos of the procedure on this site, Jeepforum or anywhere else. Just nothing showing a 2.7 turbo off the car, or how to get it off.

Im really, really struggling getting what I think are the last 3 bolts off turbo to the exhaust manifold.

To the right of the turbo, there is mounting bracket onto the exhaust manifold on the engine, There are 3 bolts holding the turbo to it in a triangle shape. 1 top bolt which I think maybe a 13mm, but its in such an awkward position, close to the block, and I cant get a socket on it, and there doesnt seem to be any room to get a spanner on properly - the same for the 2 bolts under the manifold. Ive spent at least a day struggling with these 2 and are no further forward.

The FSM isnt any help - it just says "(10) Remove turbocharger from support bracket." Doesnt even mention manifold.

Anyone have any tips or advice? Thank you!

There's a support bracket underneath you'll need to remove plus the old feed/return lines and the exhaust. Once all of these parts are off it should just be three bolts or nuts between the inlet flange and the manifold. I'd expect it won't be hard to do, probably under an hour to remove it. You'll need some Torx tools too, sockets, spanners will do the job.

I've not done the job by the way.

Its certainly not easy to get the last 3 nuts off the manifold - believe me :S Unless you have tiny oopa loompa hands and custom made, bent spanners....

Eyeballing it, it looks way easier than on the 2.5VM on the XJ.
C-shaped spanners would help.
