Default rear bumper damage

Just my luck, 3 months after getting my 2014 jeep gc limited, was standing still at a set of red lights and the guy behind me was standing still then suddenly drives into the rear of my jeep, felt a real jolt.
Turns out his bull bar smacked into my tow bar which saved the bumper.
Damaged the chrome strip near the tailgate but the rest of the bumper seems ok.
Got a quote to fix it, about $1,000 according to the panel shop.
The drivers excuse”sorry mate, was trying to get a splinter out of my finger”
Peanut !!

A. The bloke rear ended you - his problem, so yes, hopefully you got his details.

B. Either the panel shop is having a laugh (repair price) if it really is just the chrome strip/plastic guard on the bumper, OR there is hidden damage

C. Either way, have your tow bar and chassis mounts checked out for any slight distortions or anchoring issues. They're designed for towing but not for impact. I had a similar incident years ago and my tow bar was written off, the damage wasn't obvious at first.

Took the car to the local panel beaters , they checked out the tow bar and under the rear of the car and reckon all appears fine.
Car still appears to drive the same so hopefully just damage to the chrome strip.
Panel shop reckons replace the chrome panel and as there is a tiny ding on the bumper they will do a bumper respray.
Still cant believe how somone can take off from a set of lights and not watch whats in front of you!!!
Got the drivers details, put the claim in.
Anyway, left it to the insurance to sort out now.

OK, the quote is based on spraying the bumper, different level of job. Anyhow, if insurance is coughing up you might as well have it perfect!
