Default WK2 Cooling Fans

I have had issues with cooling fans coming on flat out at times when they shouldn't be needed on my 2017 WK2 Diesel. Very embarrassing at the traffic lights on a cold morning. From the first service I was assured this was 'normal' and no faults could be detected. Over the last 2 years the problem has got worse. I finally took it to a different dealer who, after having car for three days determined it was a valve in the aircon which they replaced. The day I got it back the problem returned. The fans started roaring not long after starting pretty much every time I drove it. Back to the dealers who promised to sort the issue. To his credit the service manager decided to hook up diagnostics and drive it home for a couple of nights. Of course fans cranked up half way home then again in morning when air temp was about 7 deg. Diagnostics showed DPF was trying to regen but failing to complete burn. Hence fans coming on. It would then try the regen again and again and again. They did a forced regen then reloaded software and so far all is good. Continued regen attempts probably accounted for increasing fuel consumption as well. I give the service dept at Lilydale Jeep a tick for persistence; they hadn't encountered the problem before and it wasn't showing up as a fault code. Well done them.

Wasn't this the subject of a recall/ update to the software?
