MY14 Creaks & groans
Hi Team, our GC Limited (with off-road pk) has gradually been getting "noisier" in the passed year, we tow an off-road van, not extreme stuff, but a lot of dirt road travel, its now very noticeable as you take off over uneven ground the creaks, cracks & groans from body work & suspension, So what body / transmission bolt work would need to be retensioned? and its not the towbar 1st thing I checked, cheers

Tranny will be clunks, sounds more like dust has worked into the moving suspension parts, the rubber bushes and such ............ But being a Limited my air bag knowledge is limited... Have a good look at your suspension bushes its often noticeable if they are starting to fall to bits.... tyre wear is also a sign.
On my stuff I have lifted it up, given all suspension moving bits a good squirt of Lannox then gone for a drive, seems to stops the groaning bits .............
If your tow bar is getting loose it starts with an odd clunk/knock then when you hear the bendy Coke can sound your in trouble....... Coke can sound also shows the roof can be thinking of leaving as well.

A prime source of groaning in the WK2 comes from the large bolts that connect front body to Front suspension sub chassis via plate connections..These go through large rubber isolator bushes, sometimes not tight sometimes they get corrosion in them ,either way take out clean grease and tighten up hard.

If yours has airs suspension, does it only clunk in offroad 1?
Mine has a clunk that drives me crazy in OR1 from front right, I barely use OR2 so not sure if it does it or not. I reckon it might be the sway bar end link

cracks & pops just forward or backing out the drive, then shuts up only the occasional suspension squeek like all 4wds, but not like a imploding wheel bearing tho

If rear and you have Adventure Pack then rear elsd diff could need oil replacing and Mopar friction modifier added as the clutch plates bind and then let go
Dealers sell it for $15 so not expensive. Usually happens more on corners

But only use a modifier if you use the Mopar stuff as it is plain oil, most other diff oils come already blended ...................... My Nivomatt will moan and groan as they set up when I first hook up and drive off, do air bags do the same thing before they are bedded in to the load ??
I thought only Yank models had adventure or off road packs, ours its a standard ?
