Default Thermostat

Going to change out the Coolant (3.0 VM Diesel) with Nulon Red as Drover and others recommend, Got 6 liters from Supercheap when they had it on special 25 % off, open to any suggestions to try and get it air lock free first up. Just one question can the Thermostat be separated from the housing and purchase a thermostat independently if needed. Have looked through Gates and Tridon catalogues but stuffed if I can find one, just want to be prepared if I feel it needs changing out, preventative maintenance, sorry if its been asked before

No mate, it's sold as an integrated unit, not cheap either. It has a bleed screw on the housing.

When my thermo played up a couple of years back I went looking for a new one until I discovered my extended warranty covered it. Insurer insisted I take it to professional repairer, so got it replaced by a local rad specialist who charged the insurer.......wait for it.......$795.00 for the OEM thermo and new coolant, EXCLUDING labour.

Prices Drover found above are pretty good.

On closer inspection from the various pics floating around, it looks like the actual thermostat clips in to the housing, surely you would be able to buy just that bit and not the housing too.
