Default CRD Radiator removal - whats the magic trick?

I wanted to remove the radiator of my Jeep so that I can install the new one. I have removed all hoses and the fluids but got stuck when I wanted to move the radiator up and out of the way.

It seems that the intercooler in and outlet seem to block the bath. There are some brackets on the side of the radiator which prevents it to go up any further.

So I assume that I have to remove the intercooler as well. Is this the case or am I just too stupid?

You need to remove the slam panel and remove it together with the intercooler. The A/C condenser stays in place.

It's a very quick job to be honest. I posted the procedure some time ago in the forum.

I got it out but this thing was still bitching on me. Stubborn little thing. I had to remove the steering fluid container as well as the battery so that I could move to the side. This also means I cant use my radio anymore since I do not have the code. This project keeps adding up and up . Well wanted to change the radio anyways so, gives me a reason to speed this up.

Not looking forward to get this back in. Guess it includes another fight.

The joys of owning an older car. I've just bought an 8yr old Touareg and it's cost me a few dollars in repairs and then there's the bloody Towbar.

Doing it myself is costing me $1200 and it's been far from easy. Bloody cars is all I can say.

Just call a local dealer and they will give you the code, if they don't call another.
I called one in rural NSW somewhere I reckon when I needed mine, much friendlier than the asshats near here in Adelaide

Phew, thanks for the info. Was close to get one too. Always wanted to have the first version of this series and you can get them for decent money. But I guess this is the reason why.
