Default Power for a fridge

Where have you guys run the power cables to get them to the rear to run a fridge or compressor. I'm selling my motorbike and looks like I'll get a fridge and a few other niceties for the XJ so I might run some power to the rear this weekend or at least pull it apart and map a few things out.

Also what size cable 8G big enough and then a fuse box at the rear with smaller stuff off that?

Cheers

Default Power for a fridge

Steve,

Been thinking about doing this again on the new XJ I got. I did my brothers and we used a ciggy lighter socket that he got from an auto store. Looks good and is out of the way. His fridge has a cable with a ciggy connection. We used a inline 20A fuse, only because the frigde required it. The cable was run to the battery, so there was no problem with power with the engine off.

Of course the other option is to run the cable to the power supply in the dash next to the switches.

Thru the cabin. Use the sill under the doors in the cabin. The cable for the CD stacker runs this way. There is lots of room.

Steve,
Your best bet is to run the cable under the plastic carpet cover strips, unscrew them and come out the back, stick the plug in the recessed panel. Don't forget the fuse, stick that either under the dash near the fuse box or near the battery connection.
Be a good idea if you buy a battery monitor so you can check both batteries cause the fridge will drain heaps if you don't use it properly, best of luck

Check out my Ride(s)
Default Power for a fridge

My rear power supply comes off my second battery (6mm cable)into the cabin through the grommet I installed for all my accessories to enter the cabin it then goes to a 25 amp 415 volt rated circuit breaker and then through a 415 volt 100 amp rated switch then dowm ender the trim on drivers side to the rear into a double cig lighter socket behind spare wheel bracket and then under rear door trim across back to another socket on passengers side for fridge.
All my accessories come of this line (radios, GPS etc) and I use circuit breakers that way I do not have to carry dozens of fuses. (all switches and circuit breakers are aviation types)

Thanks for the reply guys, it all sounds pretty easy although now I've thought about it I'm not going to do any more on this until I have the dual battery setup ready to go in. This Jeep stuff has got me really hooked

Cheers
