Default Hate them roos

I've hit a roo or 2 in my time (some trees and a 'keep-left' sign at rainbow beach once too! :D )and while the wife's cars bend and dint (roo's only - i promise!) my 4by's have always had a bullbar or at least a nudge-me bar and shove wildlife out of the way no worries at all!

Has anyone had any experiences with bars on the front of TJ's? I'm thinking of getting a nudge bar on the front for a bit of protection and somewhere to mount some spotties.

My concerns are:
1: Will the TJ's front end hold the weight?
2: Airbag interference?
3: Approach angle compromise?

I live in a particularly roo infested part of SE Queensland where they grow roos big. Anyone hit one in a TJ yet?
I had a close call last night with a monster i reckon would have stood 6 feet tall. If i had been doing 10k's over he'd be roadkill. Maybe me too!

You wouldn't believe the damage one did to the wife's commbydore last month at 40k's/hr....or so she says...

I got ARB bumper & if I were likely to encounter roos - that would be my pick.
But make sure you get a winch compatable number
As for the weight - I did find the modified ARB bumper + 8274 DID weight the front down about 1"....nothing a set of coil spacers can't fix :D

I recently got an ARB Bar w/winch mount and it was airbag compatable. apparently 4wd shops can't legaly fit bars to 4wd's with airbags unless the bar is setup for airbags anyway.

Cheers, :D

ASFAIK, the TJ uses decelerometer or similar to trigger the airbags. No crush cans to worry about like on Patrols? etc.

Further to Matt's reply

It uses an acclerometer that detects the rate of deceleration

The sensor is in the Airbag control module(ACM) and obviuosly a pre programmed decision algorithm in the microprocessor determines when the decelration rate indicates an impact severe enough to deploy the airbags.....

common sense realy

I hit a roo in my TJ with the an ARB bar and no damage....mind you I was doing 70 and i swerved and hit it's tail only
