My old [72] cj 6 needed a new clutch, so i got in contact with Mascot motors and in no time had parts required, however there must have an alteration in the manufacture of my clutch mech as its slitghly different to the new ones i got from mascot. The clutch cover has multiple splines where as my original only had 3. Clutch plate is basically the same shape size etc but with more offset to clutch cover side. The biggest difference occurs with the throw out bearing, it does not appear to fit the throwout lever at all. so my question is this.
1. Should I get a new throw out lever to match the new throw out bearing or
2. Because the old throw out bearing seems fine should i just reinstall it?
3. Ive tried to remove the pilot bushing and replace with new but cant, should i persevere or leave it?
4 i should be able to apply oil to the pilot bushing lubricating wick with a syringe if so is it neccesary to remove bushing at all?
And last of all {for now } the fly wheel seems to have lost 2 teeth of the starter side.
5.should i remove it and replace with new. if so how the hell to remove it which way do bolts turn, looking at back of motor to flywheel clock wise or anti.
6. The starters mesh teeth seem to have worn down
also could this be the reason for the ocasional starter miss or the fly wheel
Opinions appreciated!
