Default Tyre size

Now I have read a lot of info on here about which tyre sizes will fit under X amount of lift etc etc.

I have 2 -2.5" lift running tiny little 29" tyres (235/75 R15), just a bit larger than the stock GSA's (225/75 R15). Obviously I have plenty of upward room for the wheel to move into, but when I go wheeling and disconnect my front Sway Bar, at full flex there only a poofteenth amount of room left under the guards. Yes I do have bumpstops for this size lift!

My query is how on earth do peeps on here fit 31's on a stock Jeep as I doubt that I've go enough room for them with my lift. Or is it that most say that they fit without ever disconnecting???

I have a set of 31's to put on a second set of rims (goto buy some) and am a bit scheptical that they will not rub at full flex, whats the deal??

I'm also working towards 33's, and am planning to upgrade to a 3.5" lift 1.25" BL, but am worried that this won't be enough if 31's don't fit properlt in the current setup.

With the setup listed that you are going to you will fit 33's - EASY

My setup -

OME lift (got me 2.5 inch)
3/4 inch coil spacers
Lift Total = 3.25 inch (not including any sagging that may now have taken place)
1 inch Body and Motor Mount lift
Tera Disco's
33x10.5 BFG MT's on 3.75 backspace steelies (used to be on stock alloys)

I used to have some rubbing with the stock alloys on the spring perches, this is now gone with the offset wheels. Though now I am doing a flare extension same as MattC to cope with the width.

I have never had rubbing on the inside of the front flares at full compression - and I mean full compression axle onto bumpstop.

Ive got 31's on the stock suspension, had it up on the ramp, disco'd and had no rubbing in the front, or rear, there wasnt much room between the top of the tyre and the guard, but, still, no rubbing

With rims that came on my TJ I never had any rub under the guards, only a little on the rear spring tops. This is with 2.5 inch OME kit and 10mm spaces. When I got my new wheels, still 31's on rims with a lot more back spacing ( See pic in wrangler pics) I get the slightest rub at full bump on the front when discoed.

You'll find that the front tyres will stuff up into the guards more than you think they will. I ran a 2" OME lift with 31s and never rubbed, even on the ramp.

3.5" spring & 1.25" body lift will happily take 33s. Remember to adjust the bumpstops to the right height, or you will rub.

Yeah I run 33's with just 3" coils and no rubbing with 4" BS or 3.75 BS rims - Yes rubbing on the coils and elsewhere with std rims but not where you say at the top of the guards.
