CJ8 I would pick the 360 use factory engine mounts etc keep the dana 300 and auto this would be all factory parts to bolt her all up and would give a reliable setup then put on Howell EFI to bring her into the current century.
There even would be enough room for a marlin crawler box if you want extra low for off road work
If you want manual then the same engine and transfer case but throw in a NV4500
There is a J10 in Sydney that run the combo of 360 NV4500 and dana 300 and it is a very tuff combo
