Default Transfer case lowering spacers - what's the go?

My 2nd hand 97 TJ Hard Top has the original springs and shocks,
AND 2.5 inch blocks of ugly black rubber spacers above the springs. No names or brands on anything.

Thing is I don't have transfer case lowering spacers.

I am going to upgrade to Rancho shocks (keeping springs and spacers) and wonder:

where to get transfer case spacers from?
What do they do?
and how much should I pay?

Thanks guys
BT

Big_T, The only reason we lower the transfer case after a lift is to get rid of vibration due to the super short rear driveshaft. If u have no vibs then dont touch it. If u do have vibiration the best thing to do is spend $2000 on a SYE and new driveshaft (this will fix the vibs and give u a much stronger set up). If u have a body lift and dont want to spend the $ on a SYE then i would do a motor mount lift. If u dont have a body lift and dont want to spend the $ on a SYE then u will need to lower the transfer case .

The spacers are pretty cheap and u should be able to buy them from ARB

Ditto what DYI said - BUT remember you can use just about any metal spacer - I used several thick washers years agao to space my T/case down about ½".....

BTW those black blocks - are just like 99% of coil spacers - inconspicuous.....

ARB sells a t-case lowering kit for about $40 I think.
This includes 1/2" spacers and 6 new longer bolts.

Or just make your own.
Pull one of the bolts out (the tcase should be fine with 5 bolts for on road driving)
Take the bolt into a bolt shop and ask for the same thread but just 1/2" longer.
Then just make a spacer using a stack of washers or whatever suits
simple as that

cheers

I used 3mm wall steel tube bout inch or so in diameter.
Extended bolts, this worked a charm....

thanks.
Sounds quite simple really. I actually thought there was more to it than that.

I'll probably go for the ARB option as it's good to support the local stores here in Adelaide and reminds them that there are actually Jeeps out there.

Just to follow up on this for any one considering doing the same:::

I bought a lowering spacer kit from ARB in Adelaide
Less than $50 for Adelaide Jeep Club members.

Cheap I thought,,,. As I don't have the bits and pieces to make it up out of things lying around.
Plus if I had to buy the 6 counter sunk bolts, plus big washers, i'd probably spend nearly that much or more.

As for driveline vibes, I didn't think I had any until they were gone.
If you know what I mean.

It did make an improvement.
Thanks everyone.
