There were so many problems with the chips in the USA with the ECU giving up that I would not touch them. The ECU is fully sealed in silicon to make them waterproof and why they can live under the bonnet. You have to cut away this to swap chips. The only way to do it probably is to use a separate ECU that plugs before the stock one giving changed inputs to it. You then still have to option should anything go wrong that you simply un-plug the add on ECU and everything is back to stock. They are made by Unichip and had some out for the OBDII when I spoke to them and were about to release the OBDI version which they wanted me to test for them back then. But as I dont own a dyno so I missed out

You have to be careful with the power chips too as they gain most performance from advancing the timing which can cause pinging on our sub standard fuel and also a hotter running engine!
