Well for all the wrong reasons I was first back from Nissan Trials last night after disabling the Jeep on the first event and eventually taking a tow to get home. After waiting for 3 hours to get a run on my first event of 4 for the day, I managed to accrue a whole 10 points out of 100 before getting stuck on a stack of logs. Came down on the front driveshaft which tore in half which then procedded to tear out the clutch/fuel/locker lines and split the clutch line.
Was pretty well stuck with any attempt at a forward pull just wedging me more into the log (caught against the front of the transfer case bash plate)so it took about an hour to recover with a lot of people stepping up to help including Jimmy B (he gets around doesn't he - thanks guys). Easy enough to remove the driveshaft but having no clutch was 'all over red rover'. Manged to drive it most of the way home by key starting it in first and then judging the revs to get it up to third.
By the time I hit lights etc it was too difficult so called for a tow. At my last Nissan trials 2 years ago I was effectively broken at check-in after throwing a front axle uni on the drive up and then damaged the spare axle flange while trying to swap a new uni in so was out before even lining up. I must be cursed for this event.
Just waiting now to see how the rest of the SJC team went after some good drives by the boys while I was there and Wiz (my nav) stepping in with Brad to act as reserve vehicle. Hopefully someone will log on tonight and give us the good news
