Default Newbie - Hi all. *pics*

hi guys, i have just recently bought a 97 Grand Cherokee/ZJ. Iv always wanted to get one of these and Im so happy to finally have one. I have a few plans for her and I hope you guys can lend me a hand, give me ideas or point me to the right direction.
As the jeep will be mainly used on road, my mods are aimed for on road perfomance/handling.

First thing I would like to mod is the handling. Has anyone done a mod of lowering the ride height by about 4-5". If so, what things would i need to look at apart from the springs and shocks. Is there a place in Melbourne that offer a package for this kinda mod and if so, roughly how much do they charge?
Im also wanting to get a sway bar. Is whiteline the best place to get these?
The reason why I wanna lower it by this much is cause im gettin 20" rims and would like to have it sitting just above the tyre.

In terms of performance, any advice as to what to do to improve torque n power would be great.
At the moment, Im looking at changing the airbox with a K&N pod filter with CAI. also what can i do with the exhaust system? looking at goin 2.5" cat back exhaust with a high flow cat.what are your thoughts?

Now to braking, what are the options out there for bigger/stronger brakes.

I found the link to the american site of kevinsjeepparts and he seems to have all the performance mods that im lookin at. is there anywhere in australia that have the same/similar products/service for sale.

Im from Melbourne, Australia.
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. still standard at the moment. but have plans for on road mods. hope i can get some ideas n advice from u guys.
cheers
Red

I think your best bet for information for ricer/bling mods for your Jeep is to go to the Jeeps Unlimited special automotive forums and get in the "Speed Freaks" section...Here's the link:

bit of an unfair "ricer/bling" comment there mate. FYI there will be no ricer mod on my jeep. what i wanna do is simply the opposite of what most guys have done to their cars for off road. havent read any comments bout them being hill billy's or anything of that sort.

Sorry that you think that comment is unfair "mate" but the site IS called AusjeepOFFROAD. If you're wanting to put 20" wheels and lower your Jeep you'd better be a little bit more thick skinned around this bunch. I don't mind being called a hillbilly or a redneck as "I R ONE" and I come by it honestly.
That is a legit link I gave you and you'll be finding more answers there about lowering a Jeep and putting bling rims on than you will here...nothin' more or less was ever intended...

See topic...

Well try an on road forum then instead of an off road forum. Most of the people here mod cars for off road use, anyone wanting to lower their cars for on road normally get a warm reception. I guess images of a GC hooning around the streets with low profiles and under car lighting just draws negative attention to Jeeps.

first of all, there is no hooning in my part. the car is for cruising n daily driving and who mentioned anything about under car lighting. think maybe u should broaden ur thinkin and get away from the narrow minded thinkin of ricing a car. What i wanna achieve with my GC is for it to perform/handle safely on road as that's where ill be driving her. if u can understand the safety aspects of things, u would not be thinkin of what i wanna do as ricing. it's mainly lookin at improving handling and safety of the vehicle on road.
I joined the forum to get ideas not to be told what to do. as for ur negative attention to jeeps? WTF is that? U think that seeing a jeep that handles well n performs well will give jeep a negative image? dude...
