Default WORST BOGS!

Just though i would post up a thread were everyone could share a story about the worst bog they have either been stuck in/involved in/or helped recovering.

Here goes, got my baby stuck down at Menai in the massive mud-creek looking crossing all the way down the back not far down from Heathcote Rd. Opposite end of white rock. Same spot as fergo's avator image. Was going straight through and next thing you know smack a log and she went back a bit then just dug in. Very soft mud no back or forward movement just sinking deeppperrr! Had water upto the seats very scary experience. Anyhow had a little zook there and he had no chance getting me out. A Patrol came along raised with 33's locked and all and only managed to pull me out about 1mtr and that was it. Finally after 2 hrs the car still running by the way thank god for the snorkel went to ARB shop and spent $400 on a handwinch (had no choice by that stage) the car was sinking more and more. Hand winch got her out, then we see as it starts rising out that the front passanger tyre came off the bead. All in all was 4.5hrs of recovery and had to reset the tyre on the bead. Luckily didn't get another inch deeper or would have drowned all electrics under the dash. Lost a stacker though.

Anyways just thought would be fun hearing some more story's like this if there are any

Well I once had this really hot indian curry...........

Just kidding..

I know a tow truck driver who calls me from time to time and pays me to recover vehicles which he can't to. I recovered a Hilux with a couple of P platers from Bathurst from the same spot you're talking about (down near the Beach at Menai). Just so you know, you're NOT supposed to be in this area unless you're on an official clean up day. Anyway back to the story. This guy was in so far that his passenger seat was pretty much under water. There was around 1 foot deep water inside the cabin and he'd been sitting there since 10am (I got there around 5.30pm).

Down to the recovery side of things. I tried snatching him a few times with no luck, tried winching but kept dragging myself towards him rather than him out of the bog hole. Ended up chaining my rear bar to a tree and winching him out. Once I was all chained up it wasn't much stress to winch him out.

Once he's out he goes to start his engine and I tell him it's probably a good idea to check the engine for water first. Pulls out the dip stick and the entire tube is filled with water. Ended up having to tow him out to Heathcoat road where the towie put him on the back of his truck and away to have an engine replacement.

I've got a few more (including a TJ driver smoking a clutch in a 2 week old Jeep), but that one is probably the best.

Stock with 31's mtr on the rim.
at rover park........a bit of rain
bogged up to u/side bashplate.
couldn't push through the moutains of mud infront of both diff pumpkins and infront of lip of bashplate
took 3 4wd to snatch me out (up a very greasy bit slight hill....they kept loosing traction)

had to remove the bashplate just to clean it.

I was up at stockton beach with with my cousin in a 6 inch raised GQ shorty on 35's.... he got bogged right on the top of the dune, one more foot and he would have made it up.

I set out to snatch him on the hardest sand i could find in front of him... the snatch strap stretched and pulled me back with wheel spinning, i was bogged up to my rock rails.... after half an hour of digging we decided to just find help... got a guy off the beach with a 3L hilux.... on the steep hill ride up his front diff died... so he had it on 4WD but only rear wheels working, we did not realise this until he tried to snatch me out..... needless to say his rear end ended up 1 metre lower bogged in sand....

3 hrs after this we finally had a mate come out from newcastle to rescue all 3 vehicles... when he arrived he took 15 mins and we were all out...

best part of the story... the hilux was full of beer and cheeses!!! haha we didn't go hungry!
