Default King Springs and Spring Rates

Offically, if you enquire 'off the street', King Springs only make raised 25-30mm from factory std height with an increase in spring rate of approximately 25%.

But if you sniff around at a supplier of theirs, you can have springs custom made.

I am considering having custom King Springs made up to 60mm (roughly 2.5inch)

I need to give them the specs of what I need.
So would 25% increased spring rate be about ok, or is this a chance to get heavier or lighter?

I have a 97 Hardtop with tubular bumper. No plans for heavy towing or winch/bumper.
I also have the adjustable Rancho shocks, so I can probably dial in or out any stiffness.

What do you think, just go with 25% increase?
(Stop over analysing it?)

By the way, I heard that Pedders Springs are King Springs painted red. No Bull.

Orange would be better. Or flouro yellow.
When I get bored enough, I plan to take my springs and shockers off and repaint them in a flouro colour - probably orange.

i am running custom made 3" HD king springs - very happy with them and being able to adjust my shockies makes it even better

my 2 cents worth anyway!!!

PS mine are yellow, spewing, red would have been better to match the rancho shocks!!

Batzi,
did you just tell them you wanted "Heavy Duty", and didn't specify anything more than that?

How is the ride?
Do you have Bullbar and winch?

Mine are king springs. Not sure what size they are, but it resulted in about 3" of lift. They're pretty damn hard, perhaps a little too hard, but I did ask for them that way so they'd ride better with the truck full of gear and a winch on the front. (Yet to be installed.)

I expect they will ride better in flouro, just to tie in my last post.

Big T, my mate who has a contact with King Springs ordered them for me, as fas as i know, the order was for a TJ 3" Heavy Duty Springs.

As for the ride, i can't complain i am very happy with them, i suppose the beauty with my set up is that i have the adjustable ranchos with the in cab adjustment, so i just soften it up when i don't have a load.

i did have the tubular bars, they are now off and am deciding over the weekend whether to go for the warn front bar or the arb front bar, in the future getting a winch. the rear bar is a warn with the tyre carrier.

hope this helps BT
