Default Need more Inches!

Now that I have got your attention - you dirty minded little Jeepers!

My XJ already has 2" OME kit, but with new tyres I'm looking for a couple more. I was thinking of spacers for the front coils and taper blocks in the rear, then extend bump stops by 2" as well. What are your opinions on this? How much more height will the OME shocks handle?

Cheers

With 4" of lift you will be near the max your shocks will extend. When you hit a good dip front or rear the axle will try to rip the shocks off at the mounts. Longer shocks will be a must have. You may have to get adjustable lower control arms for the front as well. I think at 3"+ you need to start correcting steering.

am in a similar position myself who wouldn't want a few more inches you may be able to avoid having to buy new shocks straight away by using shock extenders to raise the shock mounts a bit i think skyjacker and jks sell them or else they wouldn't be that hard to fab up if you got the skills tools etc have seen the made outa angle iron and looked kinda strong will try to post some pics of what i mean once my comp is back up an running as im posting this on another. though depending on how many more you are after they may not b enough

With 4" of lift I run the OME long travel shocks. These work well and my LCA bottom out on the mount before I run out of shock. Not sure about the rear, I think the spring pack pretty much reaches it's limits before the shocks do. Extensions on the front shocks work fine if the up travel has been limited by longer bumpstops otherwise the shocks will become the bumpstops.

Cheers

I have Old man emu in my xj and I got another inch and a half by ordering adjustable spring overs and extended rear shackels from Rocky road out fitters in the States.
The car goes fine I have a 1 inch transfer drop but it feels like things might wear out quicker in the tail shafts department so You realy do need the SYE when you can.
