Default Cheapest/Easiest way to lift an XJ?

Guys,

Just after a cheap(ish) and easy way to lift my XJ Sport.
The dealer I bought it from has fitted 31" tyres and while it looks mad, I get just a bit too much rubbing into the top of the arches off-road.
Wanting to just boost it around 25-35mm.

Spacers? Add-a-Leaf?

I am still trying to figure it all out for lifting. Like where to get bits from, how much can I do myself, etc. I do intend to get it up to Sport+3" eventually, but I really should do this before I ruin tyres.

Thanks for your help.

i would say they cost $145 a pair for a reason.

Fit a Suspension Kit to the car, a Kit addressesevery issue.
Thats why it is a Kit.

And that reason might be??

Lovells coils also cost about $140 a pair and are very well known and have performed extremley well on my XJ. An add-a-leaf will get you by on the rear as well but these are not typically a long term solution and can damage the main leaf due to differnt arch and the pressure they put on a small part of the main leaf.

In theory a pieced together budget kit for just 2" of lift can cost about $300. Standard sport shocks will also cope with a bit of extra lift.

Cheers
Steve

It would maybe stay that way for 6months -1 year. Till I have enough set aside for a bigger lift and all the other needed bits.

Can you tell me what the lift from classic to sport is? and how have they acheived that at the factory? Don't want to order spirngs and get no more lift, or too much.

If some part of a kit didn’t have to be fitted it wouldn’t,

By not fitting that part would bring the price of kits down & retailers would sell more kits.

In the long run fitting a kit will be the cheapest way of lifting the car.

What Steve said & a few more reasons are why fitting a kit works out cheaper.

Im not 1 to put a car / suspension / product down or bad mouth it so I will leave it at that.

If your after real advice just fit a suspension kit to the car.

Okay, so if I was to go for a kit, which one would you recommend? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the components in that kit?

To me, if you dont KNOW the parts of your car, or havent bled/cryed, cursed your car while working on it, the title is your only claim. 'Just' buying a kit isnt how I want to do it.
