Default Lockable Storage thingy??

Hey guys

Finally buying my TJ VERRRRRRRY soon and a neighbour up the road has one of those things in his TJ which replaces the back seats and you can lock your gear away (in a soft top) and it's fairly secure from thiefs etc. (imported from US of course)

Hopefully you know what I mean...

My question is, does anyone else here have one, do they think it is a good bit of kit and is it worth buying??? He reckons he paid $1000 for it a couple of years ago.

Yeah i have one . Bestop extendatrunk.
If this is what your talkin about. They dont actually lock but the lid slides out only when you unlock the back door and open it. They are fan faaarkin tastic. Not worth $1000 but I think about a few hundred US.
Dont know where you can get one but anyone who bring bestop into the country would be able to help. They ship big though. Its blow moulded plastic. Bolts to the side wall and clamps onto the seat anchors aswell.
Where are you from? I bought it from a dude on the forum second hand. He is in Sydney.

Yeah i emeber when I got it wodderrrrs saying that number one it was a bargain and number 2 how unreal they are and how much volume they hold. It is really good. With the boot door locked you cant get into it. You will need to make quite a racket with a bgig tool to get in. Here is another pic. You can see the draw runner that is level with the back door height. I open the door and slide it all the way out when picnicing and use it as table or whatever.

Wicked that's the sort of response I was hoping for. My neighbour is trading in his TJ for a new Cherokee (kids on the way) and says he'll sell his to me if I want to buy it.

I was thinking of offering about $300 for it.... dya reckon that sounds reasonable?? Cheers guys

I suppose. I little less maybe. Just be aware there are 2 nut thats are pressed into the side wall of the tub that the trunk screws into. I cant imagine how these come out after they are installed. You may have to buy 2 of these, they are sort of like plaster wall plugs that expand behind the wall then you can never get them out. Ask the current owner cause there is a special fitting tool that is used to fit this nut also.
Cheers.
