hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows about the windjammers/breakers, touneau covers and bikini roofs. are hey any good, does it compleatly seal the cabin from water and the elements and what are the prices for them in australia.

saw a kit on e-bay in america that says that it will keep you dry but the picture doesnt look like it will.

no it does not seal and yes you will get a little bit wet .....i don't have one but ive heard that they allright but not the greatest, some one else will speak soon.

The Jeep brand bikini's are not designed to keep out water and they won't keep it out.
Bestop have several version available - the replacement header is the best way to go, even for the extra few $$.

MU Canvas makes a top notch version, and custom versions (HG's flag-jammer).

Depending on what brand and model you buy some will seal out the elements. I used to have the old track header system (Jeep brand, leaked bad), then I upgraded to a MU Canvas bikini/jammer and no more leaking (at all), I still use my old tonnau every now and then but the new MU jammer has the tonnau built on to it. MU used a Bestop replacement header for the front and extended the bikini over the sound bar at the back.
The Jammer straps on to the bar work in a similar fashion to other brands, but it also velcro's down in other areas to prevent water entering.

Here's my last 3 years worth of 3-piece combo experience:

Combo WILL NOT:

1) It will not seal the cab from steady or heavy rain. Will keep most hail out of the cab

2) Will not be easy to fit. I can take just as long to put the entire 3-piece combo on as it does with the full factory top.

3) Will not make jeep secure from thieves.

Combo WILL:

1) Protect from wind etc. Sometimes it's just too windy/cold/annoying to drive topless. The jammer is not a full top but it almost feels like one.

2) Is very comfy driving with the tonneau, jammer and doors on with bikini/roof off. You can see the stars/sun and have little or no wind in the cab.

3) Is EXTREMELY quick to remove. It's a pain to put back on but it's very quick to rip off.

4) The 3-piece combo can fit into a backpack.

If you want to make the cab reasonably watertight with a jammer, either shove something into the gaps or use a SAFARI top. The BIKINI top only cover the front seat and accumulated rain runs off the back of the bikini top then onto the floor behind the front seats. The safari top drains the water onto the tonnea cover (assuming you've got a tonneau).

I went on a week-long trip with just the 3-piece combo. It was fine. It rained a fair bit on the last day i remained resonably dry. I've been on half a dozen camping trips with just the combo. Here's a pic up the beach:

if you want a fully sealed top I have a halftop for sale.. to suit 03+
its very good.. and I wouldnt be selling it if I wasnt hard up for some cash

Well said Jeeps - agree completely.
I run the bikini/windjammer/duster combo (or hardtop) - and I like it - but I can appreciate other people might like the cab more enclosed....I just couldn't justify to myself the extra $$$ for a hlftop and I like the flexibility of the 3 peice combo....

I should also mention that my jeep looks fully sic with the 3-piece combo and 2-piece soft doors i bought from Wooders Garage. Thanks Wooders
