might be a bit of a pain to pain the back gate. I guess if you are wanting an extra spare you would be going on a long trip. If I was going on along trip I would want access to the back. Good idea thou.

I used to use something similar for a jerrycan holder & the things I didn't like about it were
Have to take it off to get into the tailgate
Need to support it to stop it flogging around over bumps. ( It was so bad it broke all the welds)
Loss of departure angle.

Yeah you'd think it'd rattle back and forth a bit. Towbars never fit snugly into hitches.

The rattling would depend if the tow hitch had a retaining grub screw - if it didn't the thing would rattle a biatch.....
