Default Fitting a trailor plug.

I want to fit a trailor plug in TJ but i want to be able to unplug it from the loom. Is it easy enough to tap into the loom at the back of the TJ and fit a plug to do this job. Or am I just better off taking it to a lekky. Is there a wiring diagram available at all for this job. 04 BTW. Keen to give it a go.

An auto lec will be able to do it in about 15 minutes, he'll pull off the left tail light and splice into the tail light tail- not the loom with quick crimps then run a single wire across to the other side to pick up the other indicator.
He'll charge $60 ish and it will be quick and unreliable. You wont be able to unplug either tail light and it wont be a waterproof connection.
To do the job properly only takes an hr or so and means splicing into the loom under the car, stripping and soldering it properly and then retaping the loom OR ordering a plug in one from the US.

I paid to get my trailer wirirng done many moons ago....they one scotch locked it and they spleiced into the wires near the light - on the light side of the plug making it bloody difficult to unplug the light when I needed to (when sinking the light).

I say DIY by all means - just make sure you solder it and zhrink wrap it.

I agree Wooders. Splice solder heat shrink. All I need to do is find a connector that i can put between the trailor plug and the cars wiring loom so i can unplug it. The work out what wires to splice and connect...

Some might disagree with me - but I prefer to have the lead wired into the inside if the jeep - then just dangle it out when needed....saves a lot of crud getting into the socket.
