Sounds like we were both trying to remove pitman arms yesterday I gave up after my puller let go and took a chunk of my finger with it Took a trip to Pedders at Geebung they had it off in less than 1/2 hour and fitted the replacement I supplied Well worth the $33 Should have gone there in the first place
Any hitting with a hammer is not good as the shock is transfered through to the bearings and you may find that the balls in the steering worm will fail at a later date Thats why the book reccomends the use of a puller
