Hello there folks. I am new to the jeep scene and hope it will be fun. I just traded a 2000 S10 2wd for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It has a 4.0 L H.O. motor but I'm not sure what axles it has. It runs great and everything works. So far I love it.

Oh yeah, it has 161,290 miles. Did I make a mistake?

Welcome to the forum! Your 1st mistake.. introductions are made in the Sticky's Members Please Stop By sections, but all the guys will forgive ya.

Im Guessing your an American having an S10, talking in imperial and the most abvious your Location being Phoenix, Arizona haha.

Congrats on the purchase.. i also have a 96 Sport with the 4L and it has a Dana 30 in the front and a Dana 35 in the rear.

On this forum you will get alot of help and support but being from the US there might be a fair few things different to our XJ's to yours but the guys should be able to help.

John

Hi there and welcome.

If it is stock, in Oz we get the D30 for front and D35 for the rear.
In the states, there could be a range of diffs common in XJs, ie. D44s and 8.25s.

I also suggest visiting NAXJA also...

cheers
Dan

Found out it has a Dana 30 up front and a Chrysler 8.25. I took it out today and only had two problems. Well one only but it happened twice.
I dropped it into 4 low, shifted into drive and she popped into neutral. Also did it a couple times in 4hi. Not much a concern though.

Check the linkage adjustment underneath, and also make sure that vehicle is just rolling with tranny in neutral and that should solve problems
