behind the passenger seat under the rollbar padding there should be two plugs...one is for the speakers comming from the head unit and te other plug is for the light (hard top) which is activated when you turn your light knob (dimmer) all the around.

this is for my 98 anyway but i suspect little changes from there......i had to wire in some 6 X 9 recently too becase the dash speakers (5.25") just wasn't doing it for me.

If the TJ didn't come with a sound bar then it is very likely that you won't have any speaker wires there. I didn't have any at all with my TJ and I've found a few others that weren't running sound bars stock that also didn't have any.

Only other place is maybe below the kick panel of the passengers side seat, there is a plastic cover there that may have some in there, other wise you'll just have to run them frm the head unit.

Umm, while we're on the subject...does anyone know which is the negative wire.

I"m just putting some new speakers in my sound bar and I have brown/yellow wire & a brown/blue wire. No terminals are marked with a + or - and both original connectors are the same size in a block. So it's 50/50....

Bundybear - good hunting!

Mike

I had the same and I can't remember right now what goes where. But if you have a 9V battery and use it on the old speaker you will find the + and -. If the cone of the speaker pushes out you got it correct if it sucks in reverse the battery and you have your + and -. That’s if you know which wire was where? Hope that makes sense
