Default Checking the Auto Fluid

I was just about to check the auto fluid levels and realised that I have misplaced my manual with the correct 'procedure' for checking the level. I think that you need to drive the car for a while (think it was 30km's or something like that) to get the fluid up to normal operating temperature then while the engine is runing go throught all the gears and then check the level with the transmission in 'park' with engine idling. does this sound right? or do I check the level with the engine off?

I am also wondering if anyone is running non Mopar transmission fluid?

Get it warm run it througth the gears and set it in neutral with the engine running. I have found this to be the most accurate and consistent method so far.

It can depend on the gearbox some seem to be okay with Dexron 3 yet others usually later models aren't, there are a few posts on the subject in the forum, have a search and you should find heaps of answers.

I found that ATF+4 works the best. All others where giving me some weid shift patterns.
