Default 97 immobilser dead, car won't stay started re-program?

Had to change the battery in the immobilser tonight, now it won't work. Pressing the buttons does nuthin', car turns over for a few seconds and then dies right on cue.

Anyone tell me how to re-program the thing?

ive had something similar happen to me and had to hold the revs up fairly high for a fair while untill it reset it self took a few goes as when i took revs down too soon it would die, see if you can keep it running by reving it first if that does work then try what i said.

Well that didn't work. Managed to bunny hop the car into the garage, so at least now I can get the other car out but that doesn't really solve my problem.

After getting a flat battery up the beach I got jumped by a mate's cruiser. Then I had the same problem as you. I could start the Jeep but only run it for 2 seconds. Another mate suggested to "reboot" the immobiliser by starting the car from scratch.
By that he meant close everything, lock everything, then leave it for a minute or two. Then unlock it and try to start it again. (I was still hooked up to the cruiser while we did this.)
It worked perfectly for me. Sounds a bit simplistic but it did the trick.

Remote won't even lock / unlock doors. Off to officeworks right now to get another battery, but while I'm gone keep those suggestions flooding in please....

Nah, already thought of that.

And after a 25km drive in each direction to the only officeworks store open this late at night still no joy.
