Yumpet with CJ5's there's pre and post 74, the pre 74's have the short front mudgards 8" drum brakes 5.38:1 diffs rear 44 front 27? closed knuckle, very narrow track and the twin stick spicer xfercase low 2.42:1, and the motor will be the Palcon 6 if it's and aussie assembled one. these jeeps are slow on the road and hard to stop BUT, in low they will crawl over anything (just about!) be prepared for rust and lots of repairs as you push it lots of fun tho.
post 74 the front guards are longer, 11" drums front and rear and mostly 4:27:1 diffs
rear is a 44 front 30 open knuckle xfer is the dana20 with a 2.0:1 low motor is the amc 232 6 cyl, these go a bit faster on the road stop a little better, but they still leak etc, the low range is not as low, so take your pick, the trick with either IMHO is to substitute local parts for the jeep bits that break wear out or fall off
early stuff is lots of fun and simple to work on........ just as well for me anyway
