Default Engine almost stalling

I have a Commander CRD (auto) and have a couple of times in 1st high experienced that the engine is coming close to stalling on a steep incline.

It feels like the engine is about to stall, then suddenly it powers on.

An other way of describing it is that it feels like the torque converter is locked, the revs are dropping, nothing happens when I floor it and then suddenly it unlocks, But I am not aware of any lock up on 1st gear or?

Anybody experienced something similar on a WH or XH? I believe I ought to have enough power on 1st high.

I haven't been particularly impressed with the power of ours offroad in 1st high - so generally just stick it into low to make sure it stays over the point where the turbo kicks in. You may just be feeling the difference between the turbo not being on and then kicking in.

Could be your Qdrive II system working, Depends what terrain, rocks and mud ect id be in low range, Like jammy jeep says, try keep it on boost much smoother and the car is in its max power zone so you have heaps more control!
