Default Crd...

Hey all,

I'm a first time poster here.. looks like a great forum

Just got a question..

I got a diesel commander and got a slight vibration coming through on the steering wheel and a little on the seat.. does anyone else have the same thing happening? Just wondering to see if i should go get it checked out at all...

thankyou very much.

Jayt04, if it is coming through the seat it is more than likely from the rear tyres, just check that no rocks or nails etc are stuck in them first. If it is only slight it is more than likely something simple as that. I thought i had a flat tyre on the front the other day with a severe vibration and wobble and all it turned out to be was a big road stuck in the tread. Sand and mud on the inside of the rim can also do this.

Thanks so much for the replies!

Sorry i forgot to mention that it only vibrates when its idle.. once i take off its beautiful.

I took it back to the dealer and they said that it has a slight vibration at idle but thats only because its a diesel.. "its normal" they say

Obviously its not if no one else is getting it at idle??

Also is there anything special you guys do for your diesels? just to get a few tips cos it is my first diesel and just wanna make sure i keep it clean. Just like petrol station preferences etc.

Thank you again.

I haven't had a diesel before either, but my mechanic told me to make sure you buy your fuel from places where trucks buy it. This will mean the fuel gets turned over more regularly and less chance of water or other contamination. He's also got me putting in some diesel additive every time I fill up, which is supposed to help if you do pick up some crappy fuel. It costs around $15 for about 10,000kms. Make sure you get oil + filter changed every 10,000kms as well, rather than leave it the whole 20,000kms as per the service book.

Whilst the 3.0 is an awesome diesel, they're never as smooth as a petrol V8. I think the vibrations you are talking about ( at idle ) are probably normal.
