Default Strange Auto Problem

Heres the problem 97 xj sport 173000ks had fuel tank and injector service replaced distributor new idle stepper motor to fix hard start and surge/cutout problem all that did fix that but know it has the following fault.

Auto slips when trying to take off in drive ok when you manually select gears
fault code 54 cant seem to find out what it stands for .

Any one had any similar probs

I suspect yours may be:

54 No camshaft signal detected during engine cranking.

might be silly but have you checked your fluid or when auto was last serviced.

You have a problem with your CPS or Cam Position Sensor. It sits under the rotor in the distributor. Didn't you mention in another post you had changed the body of the dizzy? Was the CPS put in correctly or was damaged during the change maybe?
