Wink Ready to get an Jeep Cherokee 1999 ?

Hello everyone,

I am new to this Forum. But I would like someone to point me in the right direction. I am about to get a Jeep Cherokee Limiteds 1999, auto (and yes it is green). The fomer owner (someone I know..1 owner) had accidentally forgot to re-oil. Hence I am getting it rather cheaply. I am inclined to swap the motor over, but being a 4.0L 6CYL. I was thinking of using alternative engines that would be economical, Is this a possibility with Jeep?

Also where would be the the best yards around ( in melbourne that I could do a direct engine swap over (economical pricing) and good people to deal. Preferably let them do the changeover. ENgines that have done atleast less than 60,000Kms.

I might atlast get rid of my faithful ol' 60 series '82 Toyota Cruiser., But am I jumping from a hot pan into fire?

Appreciate any help..
Xman
Cheers.

When you say "forgot to re-oil" do you mean oil drained but not refilled? does the engine still run?

Well it is still going. Apparently their mechanic had added thicker oil. Not sure, till I get to ride and check it out.

Try Poly 4X4 link on this website.

Also try Affordable Tyres and Servicing Cnr Fyans St and Yarra St Geelong VIC: 03 5221 6599: Speak to Cliff. They have an engine out of a late model Wrangler sitting on the shop floor has less than 40.000 Ks on it. They'll fit it for you as well....
