Default ZJ - Central Locking

Hi all,
sorry about - what might seem as - a dumb question.

Just got an used ZJ.

It has central locking and I found that using the keys do open close the door does not trigger the central locking.

Should it ? If so, what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Dante

...speaking of central locking using the key fob, watch out if youre car battery goes flat or is very weak. you wont be able to turn off the immobiliser by hitting the unlock button on the key fob in order to start the engine. i found out the hard way recently

Default Central locking

Remember not to park in direct line of sight of any mircowave telephone towers or you may fine yourself stuck & scratching your head as to whats going on. . If you are standing there with no reaction when you press the key fob, get back in and start the ZJ, look around & there will be a tower near, then move to a better parking spot away from direct line of sight of the transmission tower, before your immobiliser kicks in otherwise if it's to late, push it away a few meters and see if it is moved enough to reduce the effect of the tower or park it uphill ( To do with similar wave lengths ).. One of the little pleasures of the ZJ

You've got that one right Steve, just the other day I was telling a bloke why I couldn't get the ZJ going one particular time and he just shook his head and said "Bloody Jeeps".
