Bilt4mud's US trip so far: Glamis Dunes, The Fabschool Welding n more...
Hi all,
It's me b4m in Palm Springs, California. I've been here about 6 days and having so much fun. Yesterday my friends and I took a 4 door X-type (which we don't get in Aus) JK Wrangler to Glamis, California. For those who have never been here, my God is all I can say. There would have been at least 3,000 buggies, huge lifted pickups to tow caravans or RV's as they call it here and also their toys (sandrails, Rhinos, sand buggies n quads). And this place is massive! For Perthies, it's about 100 times bigger than Lancelin. It's like in the middle of the Middle East I guess. We had a lot of fun driving a stock JK up some massive dunes.
And today I started my crash course in fabrication at The FabSchool. I thought what better way than to learn from the experts? I have never welded before and hopefully by the end of my two week course here I would be able to learn how to make a tube buggy. I started MIG welding today (check out the pic, what do you think?). I know Murray, I need more practice, but I'm learning fast. Tomorrow I hope to do some tube notching, pipe bending etc...
This weekend I'm going to the SEMA show in Vegas for 5 nights. For those who aren't familiar with the SEMA, it is the world's biggest car after market convention. All the big name brands are there, and so are the race stars and hot women. Today I met Walker Evans at his factory.
Cheers
b4m
