If anybody has been there and wants to share their thoughts about the place let us know. I'm heading down there this easter and any tips would be appreciated

Cheers AJ

Also check this thread if you did some wheeling while you were down there.

Yeah we had a club xmas party there round 5 years ago. Quite open space for camping though not much tree cover if it was hot. We arrived early December with torrential rain & hail 30 minutes later the sun was that hot almost unbearable lol.
Nice river to swim in dunno how much water would be in it now....

All in all nice place to camp brian the owner is a real character brings you down stuff he has cooked in the camp oven. joined us in our late night festivities and drank our booze lol

umm wheelin you will be hard pressed finding much in the way of decent 4wding enjoy the trip in and out. You might be tempted to put it in high range lol

Hi AJ,

Great place to camp but as expected it will be very crowded over Easter. Better than a caravan park though.

Best time to really enjoy Wollondilly is mid week out of hoildays in autumn or spring.

If you have a porta pottie take it along. The toilets are much used. I'd rather dig a hole anyday.

Not much in the way of firewood, so take your own. We drove out to near the caves to get a little bit of wood with the chainsaw. The place has been picked clean over the years.

Worth a wander through nearby Wombeyan Caves.

There is a camping area at the caves with all amenities. http://www.thesouthernhighlands.com....amping-reserve

some excellent spots to be had. Get there early to get a good spot or even a day or two earlier. Unsure about water as I haven't been there for about 6 months

Went down on the long weekend. Excellent water level, great shade along river edge, and trout on the fishing line.
We have booked a area for our christmas week away

Just back from 9 days over the holidays. Water level great and plenty of time to explore with the canoes. They have widened the road just after the tunnel and there is a stack of good wood just waiting to be collected. You will need a chainsaw as its around 4 to 6 inch but is perfect to burn as its dry and ready. The first spot on the western side has heaps of shade for most of the day and the portaloo (longdrop) is one of the best around. Remember to book ice with Brian if you want it as sometimes he runs out of spare ice
