Default Extra glovebox beneath the steering wheel

G'day everyone,

Was mucking around with the KJ the other day and noticed that the dash panel beneath the steering wheel is a hinged panel. (kinda like the LHS glovebox). The hinge mech is exactly the same as for the glovebox and the panel is held in at the top with spring clips.
There's a fair bit of room behind this panel - though interrupted by the steering column - and i reckon it would be a great place to put another glovebox (or at least s'where to stick the uhf unit etc).

Has anyone done this (made a glovebox on the drivers side that is...)?

Eric.

It's a good spot, a lot of guys mount their GME uhf's in there, or car alarms etc....

yep - got my UHF mounted in there and an external speaker screwed into the metal plate on the back of the 'hinged' bit.

The remote head for the uhf is mounted (lioke many others) next to the ciggie lighter

Hey metro, why the extra speaker? Was the built in one not loud enough??

Just found that the speaker on the unit itself was pointing either directly into the 'kick panel' or up into the steering.

The speaker gave me extra sound and makes it really easy to hear (particularly when other drivers are grovelling into their handsets and they become quite 'bassey'!)
