For months I have been researching the pro's and con's of either building a camper trailer or buying out right. I wanted to get a 7x4 off road trailer and add to this all the gear we needed. I had a long list, some mine and some Wen's. I looked at trailers both used and new. There are some good used trailers out there but in the end, we decided to go new.
To start with I was ready to buy the 7x4 off road trailer with 510mm side for around the $2000 and most places I asked for a quote met this cost.
What I wanted in the camper trailer was;
Electric 10" brakes with cab controller,
7 leaf rebound off road springs with greasable shackles
45mm square axle
Treg T-35 or hyland 2000 hitch
Toolbox on draw bar
1500mm or a 1800mm braw bar
Adjustable spare wheel carrier
Water tank and hand pumps
Hinged and gas strut base
Swing away jockey wheel
Stabilizer legs
LED tail lights
Gas bottle stowage
Jerry can stowage for fuel
Jerry can stowage for water
and of course kitchen with sink and hand pump
All the above was going to cost me more, and I planned to fit it all myself. But with work and no time to it, I decided to get the professionals to do it.
From placing the order to picking up the custom ordered trailer was 3 weeks, with about a week over that with emails and phone calls back and forward to get all I needed.
Wen and I looked at so many trailers and in the end, we decided to give Kerry at Ozzie Off Road the job as he was the only guy that took the time to show us want was in and what we could do with a trailer. His web site is

Our trailer is modelled between the Explorer and the Adventurer.
The trailer was just what we asked for. All the above gear and few little extra's. I have the camper top to add and will do that in the next few weeks.
