Question First service?

Question in regards to the 1000km service. I will be picking up my jk from perth some time in may. My only problem is its a 1600km drive home to karratha. Am i better off organising for it to be transported home rather than drive it half way, get it serviced then continue home?

mate if you check with your dealer, there are quite a few authorised service and warranty agents between perth and karratha, and indeed darwin. there is certainly one in port hedland, and i think also in karratha. probably also carnarvon. you could get it serviced on the way up probably at carnarvon. just make sure you buy a filter for it also . the diesel needs a low ash oil, so if you need diesel oil buy some penrite hpr 0 a low ash oil for the diesel with particulate filter if it has one. possibly the new diesel will not have a particulate filter but they still recommend low ash oil. ask your dealer about it and just take oil and filter with you, and drop in to an authorised service agent on the way. good luck mate enjoy your new vehicle.

Davidd thanks for that. I'll have a chat to my dealer next week. Just one of the joys of living in remote locations.

For the service to be free you have to go to the dealership you bought it from, the 1000km service isn't in the service book and no oil is changed. I think they just plug it in to there computers and check things are ok.

...Well..that explains why it's free then. Surely it would be a good idea to drop the engine oil at this time...even if it is at our own cost ? It's a pretty crucial time for the engine...

just as a matter of interest, when i was away last year i got a list of service agents (for warranty work as well). they were in geraldton, carnarvon, port hedland, karratha, broome and kununnurra. but the list changed from time to time as things in country towns change. pays to check before you leave on a trip.
