Default JK Diesel Errors

Hey all!

Well, have just come back from the West Coast of Tas after an Easter Camping Trip! What a spot!

The Jeep went really well except for a couple of things, I was wondering if anyone could help me with these!
1. The Clutch get's really hot really quickly. I am not talking about excessively slipping it either (although, in the soft sand you do have to slip it a bit to get going). Shouldn't these things have a HD Clutch in them?
2. The Clutch Pedal seems really heavy now, I think the 'balance point' on the clutch pedal has moved up too. Would this be the cause of the extra weight?
3. I have some ESP Faults now which are premenantly on. The ESP Light (the car with the Squiggly Lines) doesn't go off anymore and the ESP BAS Light is constantly on too. Does anyone know of any causes of this?

Thanks in advance!

the lights on the dash indicate there is a problem in the areas they represent. usually electrical problems. back to the dealer for that one would be a warranty item. the heavy cutch pedal could also be a mechanical problem. the clutches have had a few problems, notably collapsed thrust bearings. again back to the dealer. good luck.

I had the same ESP BAS light come on as well and it remained on for about a day, the ESP wouldnt turn back on, then it seemed to fix itself. Dealer re flashed the computer shortly after as well and haven't had a problem since.

Hey TassieMav,

Our JK is currently at the dealer due to it having the ESP and BAS lights permanently on, although they did go off for a little while but came back shortly after.....

Basically the diagnosis is a stuffed steering angle sensor which is located in the steering wheel hub. They tried to reset it but couldn't so a new sensor is being fitted - your Jeep dealer will sort it I'm sure

As for the clutch we've had ours on Stockton half a dozen times and no problems....another one for the dealer to check i think! Just out of interest is it actually slipping, if not you'll soon get used to the change and it will seem normal no doubt.
