Default DP Chip

I'm considering putting a DP chip in my WH CRD. It is still under warranty, having done about 25K. The chip is installed downstream of the ECU and doesn't affect it's functioning and engine system management. It can be removed prior to dealer servicing.
I have been told that even though it is removed at the time of service, when the computer is connected as part of the service it will give a message that a chip was installed which may affect the warranty.
Has anybody have any knowledge as to whether this is the case?
At the present cost of diesel, if I can get an decrease consumption by 1l/100km when towing my van, I will soon pay for the chip.

Speaking to guy who had one today... (not a jeep owner though). Thoroughly impressed with it... although his words were, no extra power or economy that he could tell but a hell of a smooter ride.

He described it in his insurance as a "fuel management chip".

Cheers

DawinDave, we have a WH CRD like yours. I put a DP Chip in about 3 weeks ago - very impressed so far. Still playing with settings - currently on setting 7. Definitely a smoother ride with noticeably more torque. Judging by the trip computer, using about 0.5 to 1.0 L/100 less. Can't justify the price based on fuel saving, and I didn't buy it for that, but it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Highly recommended mod.

Check out my Ride(s)
Default

I have a chip in my CRD KJ.
Yes it is downstream from the ECU but I don't know how the ECU would even know it is there or has been...?
My ride is still under warranty and have had it into Jeep several times and never had them say anything.
As far as I am aware all the chip does is change injector opening times and the fuel pressure in the fuel rail. It just takes the ECU's information being sent to the injectors and fuel rail and just changes it.
The power increase is fantastic and bang for your buck it is prob the best power mod you can get!
