Default Rock sliders

I plan to fabricate some rock sliders, having received inspiration from Steve's project. I'm going to build mine using SHS, and I've found an interesting design that will form the basis of mine. The design allows a high lift back to be used on the rail, as shown in the image.

I don't currently own a high lift jack, but wondering if someone could give me a measurement of the jaw width so I can determine my overall rail dimensions?

Cheers,

TheOoz

Thanks for your help - I should build them over the coming weeks and I'll do a bit of a write up with pics.

Im Gearing up for a project like this.
My main concern is how they attach to the frame section.
The most common method seems to be:
screwing the support to the frame with coach bolts, which I'm not keen on .
Or i saw a bot through one. Or a combination of both.

is the frame weakened by drilling holes through it to support the slide rails?

Most of the load is taken by the 6 bolts or so along the pinch seam and the section that bolts to it is pressed against the floor. The arms really only stop the sliders levering up or down and the length of them compared to the length of the section past the pivot point (pinch seam) is huge so the leverage applied to the bolts on the chassis is pretty minimal.

Cheers
Steve

Drilling through the centre not near the edges and you wont weaken as much also dont drill more then 1.5mm wider then bolts your using if you do it weaker still. my 2c
