Default Power to a CB

Hi
I am looking at installing a CB but not sure where to wire it for power?

Has anyone got any links to write ups on this. I have seen a few on JK-forum but none go into detail on if I should wire back to the battery etc.

Any help would be great
Thanks

Use the search button this has been covered before and think about constant 12v or ignition 12v as that will dictate where you get power from

And in addition to the above ... think about whether you want to bugger about about with the factory electrics or simply run a length of 2core cable straight from the battery to the radio ....

If, because of lack of experience, you need to ask how to do one of the simplest wiring tasks ... I'd suggest you run with the latter. Dont forget an inline fuse on the pos wire. 2amp should be more than adequate. Should be one provided with the unit.

If your not using the cig lighter as a cig lighter, use that power as a take off point. It's easy to remove the lower panel, and it turns off with the ignition and already has a fuse inline. Easier than going through the fire wall

Thanks guys. I would like to power with ignition. Is it possible to splice out from the cig and power the radio that way? Do i need to disconnect the battery before I touch anything?

carvesdodo -I am a bit of an amateur when it comes to car electrical stuff.. but keen to learn.
thanks

nah u dont really need to disconnect the battery. If ur unsure, grab a testlight (or make one) and use that to figure outs whats constant 12v or triggered. Id say the cig lighter will be fine, and u will be able to use both off that if you use a crimp into the existing wire. Piece of piss
