Default A Perfect Friday Afternoon

After picking up my JK from Jeep for the 12th warranty visit since I bought the vehicle 13 months ago, I took off from their driveway & noticed I had no power whatsoever. I had the foot to the floor and I just kept on idling and was crawling along at walking pace. After about 4-5 seconds with the foot to the floor, the truck then slowly picked up speed and the turbo kicked in which then gave the most horrendous screeching sound.

I pulled over and had a look under the bonnet and saw this (see pic). Whatever it is it was cracked near the screw and black exhaust residue around the edge of where the unit sits.

Can someone tell me what this unit is?

The purpose for the visit was for a new EGR valve kit to be fitted that took 4 weeks to arrive from Never Never Land. I somehow think that these two occurrences are related. I unfortunately picked up the truck after hours so I couldn't take it back and go 'postal' on them so I limped home and have had to get it towed back to their stealership this afternoon.

After limping home my dash fuel economy read 30.2L/100km.

My second request is I read somewhere someone has talked to DC Service managers high up and had things sorted out professionally and swiftly. I've search the threads but can't find the posts. I'm sick of Leo Muller service in Mansfield and this crap has got to stop. If you have details of people I can talk to - to get things done properly I'd really appreciate their details. PM me if you can.

Thanks.

yes mate it is the egr valve, certainly not a new one, and the exhaust residue is from a gasket leak, between the valve and the manifold it sits on. pretty shoddy job. probably done by a young apprentice who stuffed it up. not much money in warranty work so it would be done by the cheapest labour source at the workshop (i'm guessing). just have to take it back again. it now needs a complete new egr valve, as it is cracked and not sealing. i have to pull mine out and have a go at it too. good luck.
