go steel.
the paint is up to yourself.

the reason for steel, alloy is pretty soft and in the event of an accident or something solid colliding with the bar, the bar will buckle and warp and basically just bend.

our old XJ had a polished alloy bar, and i wont say who was driving, but a family member had run the front right corner into a concrete barrier and bent the bar round onto the tyre. was easily pulled back out agen with the winch off the tow truck.

steel, you'd need to like run a Mack truck into it for it to bend or break.

alloy is more for looks then anything else.

but t'is up to your self

Aloy bars are fine as long as you go heavy enough. People just don't put enough metal into them. they can be as strong as steel bars but the weight gets up a bit. too.

Alloy bars ... made for the job ... not show ... are excellent.

Will absorb the impact without stressing the mounts as much as steel bar.

Yes they can distort after impact but a decent one will take several hits before its unusable ... better a bent alloy bar than a straight steel one and a bent chassis.

That's right, the energy absorption of the alloy is much greater and you will get less damage to the chassis. Just as long as you go heavy enough to do the job.
